WHAT WE DO

The Life Returning Model offers any person over the age of 18 the following outreach services in our Community:

  • Respond to initial telephone enquiries within 24 hours normally interview people within 48hrs.
  • Provide a care and support service that motivates people who are dependent on alcohol and/or other drugs to find the motivation to quit their dependency on their habit or reduce their habit to a non-risky level.
  • Prior to waiting for a Detox Unit or a Residential Rehab Unit (the waiting list to achieve admission can be up to 10 weeks for an NGO operated unit) we can offer individual and Group Therapy sessions to start the road to recovery.
  • Offer adults an alternative treatment method other than 12 Step programmes.
  • An understanding that alcohol and drug treatment must address all factors of the individual, not just their Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) dependency.
  • Offer a recovery treatment programme in both individual and group settings that teaches coping mechanisms and allows the individual to understand their habit and change it.
  • Facilitation into a clinical detox unit and into inpatient rehab programmes where appropriate.
  • Family, Partner and Friends Engagement. Working closely with family members, partners and friends who are living with a loved one who has an addiction.
  • Represent and support families at meetings in settings including Mental Health Units (Hospitals), Health Community Centres, GPs and Correctional Service Centres.
  • Where appropriate, facilitate referrals to GPs and carefully selected Clinical Psychologists for Mental Health Management Plans and psychological treatment.
  • Advocate on behalf of the individual in legal, medical and employment areas.
  • Fill various service gaps that exist in the current Health System that involving Detox, Rehab and Counselling.
  • Life Returning is an innovative, practical, therapeutic outreach recovery service. They use CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) tools and techniques to optimise recovery, preventing lapses & maintain the individual’s choices and goals. 
  • They offer people an uninterrupted treatment service that they believe is essential for preventing lapses. maintaining motivation and changing behaviour.
  • Many of the people who support Life Returning have quit their dependency and experienced their recovery programmes and the continued support for their wellbeing, in some cases months or years later.
